Open Source License (AGPL 3.0)
Dual licensing
Section titled “Dual licensing”Cosmictron is dual-licensed:
- AGPL 3.0 — for open-source and qualifying commercial use
- Commercial license — for organizations that cannot comply with AGPL or exceed the free tier thresholds
Free tier
Section titled “Free tier”You may use Cosmictron under AGPL 3.0 without a commercial license if either of the following applies:
- Your production deployment does not exceed 10,000 concurrent agent sessions across all Cosmictron instances in your organization, OR
- Your organization’s Annual Revenue is less than $5 million USD
If either condition is satisfied, you qualify for the free tier — even if the other threshold is exceeded.
AGPL 3.0 obligations
Section titled “AGPL 3.0 obligations”Under AGPL 3.0, you must:
- Open-source modifications — any changes you make to Cosmictron source code must be made available under AGPL 3.0
- Open-source your service — if you build a product or service on top of Cosmictron and offer it to third parties (including SaaS), AGPL §13 (“remote interaction”) requires you to make your service’s source code available to users
- Distribute source alongside any compiled binary you deploy
If you cannot or do not want to comply with these requirements, you need a commercial license.
